Institutions:

Insitution:
an organization founded and united for a specific purpose

OR

an establishment consisting of a building or complex of buildings where an organization for the promotion of some cause is situated

There are many institutions out there today, advertising many different things whilst we don't even realise who is behind it all. For example, take BBC. They are a huge media institution behind many many different media forms. The BBC own pop music magazine "Top of the Pops". They use a lot of other BBC mediums to advertise and market the whole idea of "Top of the Pops". For example, for many years it had it's own TV show, showing a lot of the artists that are featured in the magazines, increasing the shows viewers, the magazines readers and moreover BBC profit growth. The BBC is a huge broadcasting company holding many differnent TV Channels. For example, BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three and also BBC iPlayer, because of how famous this institution name is, if a reader was to see this on the cover who was a fan of the BBC itself, it is more than likely that they would buy the magazine.
The BBC is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world. Its mission is to enrich people's lives with programmes that inform, educate and entertain. See Mission and values.
It is a public service broadcaster, established by a Royal Charter and funded by the licence fee that is paid by UK households.See Royal Charter and Agreement, The licence fee.
The BBC uses the income from the licence fee to provide services including 8 national TV channels plus regional programming, 10 national radio stations, 40 local radio stations and an extensive website, bbc.co.uk.See BBC services on TV, radio and online.
BBC World Service broadcasts to the world on radio, on TV and online, providing news and information in 32 languages. It is funded by a government grant, not from the licence fee. See BBC World Service.
The BBC has a commercial arm, BBC Worldwide, which operates a range of businesses including selling programmes around the world and publishing books, DVDs and merchandise. Its profits are returned to the BBC for investment in new programming and services. See BBC Worldwide.
The BBC is governed by the BBC Trust, which represents the interests of licence fee payers and sets the overall strategy. The Trust's Chairman is Sir Michael Lyons.See BBC Trust.
The BBC's Executive Board, chaired by the Director-General, Mark Thompson, manages the day-to-day operation of the corporation.

Bauer Media joined the Bauer Publishing Group in January 2008 following acquisition of Emap plc’s consumer and specialist magazines, radio, TV, online and digital businesses. Collectively, the Bauer Publishing Group employs some 6,400 people and has a 2007 turnover of 1.79 billion Euros.
Bauer Media is a multi-platform UK-based media Group consisting of many companies collected around two main divisions – Magazines and Radio - widely recognised and rewarded as being industry innovators.
Our business is built on influential media brands with millions of personal relationships with engaged readers and listeners. Our strategy is to connect audiences with excellent content through our broad multi-touch point brand platforms, wherever and whenever and however they want. Our wide portfolio of influential brands gives us advantages over pure play magazine or radio competitors.
Our magazine heritage stretches back to 1953 with the launch of Angling Times and the acquisition in 1956 of Motor Cycle News, both still iconic brands within our portfolio.
The seeds of the company’s radio business were planted in 1990 with the acquisition of London dance station Kiss FM, followed by the acquisition of Radio City and later by TWC and the Metro Group. Then came the acquisition of Melody FM which was transformed into the market-leading Magic FM.
In 1994, the company bought a small magazine called For Him Magazine which is now the core of the best-selling international multi-platform brand FHM.
In 1996, we acquired digital music TV channel The Box, as a route into the small screen business, which has grown into Box Television, a seven channel joint venture TV business with Channel 4.
Continuing its history of magazine launches, Closer was launched in 2002 and Britain’s first weekly glossy, GRAZIA, was launched in 2005.
Today, Bauer Media spans over 80 influential brand names covering a diverse range of interests including heat – the must have weekly celebrity title, Parker's, MATCH, CAR and Yours. For a full list our powerful brands, click here.
Every week, 12.4 million people listen to a Bauer Media radio station. Bauer Media owns the number one and number four commercial radio stations in London, with Magic 105.4, which has held the top spot in London for seven consecutive quarters and Kiss 100 targetted at a young, dance audience. Every week 1.9 million listeners* tune in to Magic’s carefully crafted, uplifting sound.
Locally, Bauer Media’s Big City Network connects with 4.7 million listeners every week across the major conurbations of the UK, making it commercially number one or two in all of its markets.
We have continued our investment in our portfolio with launches of all new heat radio and Q radio in November 2007 and June 2008. More recently we have launched GRAZIADAILY.co.uk, and re-launched more! magazine for today’s 18-25 year old women.
Bauer Media is a sister company of H Bauer UK, publisher of the UK's biggest TV listings, Take a Break and Bella.
